Why Did We Create a Low Income Clinic?
This program was created in 1994 with two goals in mind: providing counseling and mental health services for those with extremely limited incomes and, at the same time, offering supervision and training for therapists who had completed their academic training and were working toward state licensure. Providers in the Clinic receive supervision of their work with clients by experienced clinicians and particpate in regular consultation and training opportunities.
The Clinic’s fee scale endeavors to meet the needs of very low income clients and is significantly lower than the cost of providing these services. In the past year, 3,400 hours of counseling were provided through the Low Income Clinic.
Like all Samaritan Center therapists, Clinic Providers identify themselves as Christian and are committed to working in a respectful way with clients of all faiths, backgrounds and lifestyles.
